4 Ways To Drastically Improve Islamic Learning | Step 2 Seeking The Help of Allah

The Second step in actually improving your learning is seeking the help of Allah, but what do I actually mean? What we do not want is a short burst of motivation only for it to dissipate momentarily. We are looking for consistency that is not based on motivation only, the way in which this can be achieved is through two ways:

  1. To do this act for the sake of Allah, to please him.
  2. Seeking the help of Allah before embarking on the project.

When one seeks the help of Allah before embarking on the endeavour, you are acknowledging that success is not in your hands but in the hands of Allah of alone. Therefore, you can expect the help of Allah if things may appear to fall apart, or if you experience moments of inconsistency.

One scholar of Mauritania famously buried a book he had written as he felt that it was not done for the sake of Allah, and was instead written by the sheikh to prove he had knowledge of a particular science.

It is extremely important to bear in mind that the power of ones intention may dictate the strength of ones actions. You may not have the resources to even complete what you set out to do, but with the correct intention you may find that Allah will facilitate your development based on the action being done for his sake alone. Therefore, the importance of ones intention cannot be overstated.

Remember, the basis for these emails is the Hadith of the prophet :

‘Be diligent upon that which is good for you, seek the help of Allah, and do not become despondent’

Yesterday we discussed the first section of the Hadith, today we have discussed briefly the benefits of seeking the help of Allah. In our final two emails we will be discussing the importance of not becoming despondent or disillusioned or even lazy.

See you then.
