4 Ways To Drastically Improve Islamic Learning | Step 4 Not Becoming Despondent

Salamu Alaikum All,

We are now on our fourth and final step, which is continuation of the final point, not being despondent! We now have what we need (theoretically) to succeed in seeking knowledge. The key now is to not allow ourselves to fall into inconsistency and despondency.

An argument, falling into a sin, or any other thing which may effect your day should not be a deterrent in trying to reach what you need to achieve. What you need to do now is turn this activity into a habit. Remember, the hadeeth stated that we should do that which is beneficial to us, not to anybody else. You may feel a lack of motivation if you are following the crowd so make sure what you are pursuing is for your own benefit.

Purchase a diary/planner, slowly but surely, measure your progress and jot down the times you have studied throughout the week. Your successes will slowly increase as you do better. Remember you have asked Allah for assistance and therefore you will never be abandoned so long as your intention is correct.

These point may seem small or significant, but that is because success is merely the culmination of small steps done over a long period of time. I hope you have enjoyed this small series on benefitting from knowledge. Hopefully this can be used to achieve something small over what remains of the summer.

While we still have you, this September we will be starting our one year Diploma in Islamic Studies. You will have the opportunity to study and understand the basics of your religion at a pace suitable to you.
